Miles apart

London, Chinatown

We are never aware of how much we rely on something, on someone until they’re not there anymore. Home to me used to be something so ordinary, something within my grasp, something that was always just…there. It isn’t till you’re 10000 miles away from home that you realise how much you’ve taken for granted, how much more difficult it actually is, how much you’ll miss the familiarity, the comfort, the silence, the chaos. Third year spending Chinese New Year away from home, it doesn’t get easier, in fact it never will. Nonetheless, I’m still extremely thankful for friends, for making this journey less lonely. Happy Chinese New Year.
